About the project
Trans-meat is a two-artist culture melt. Photographer María Escudero of Quito, Ecuador
and Sam Brown, Pittsburgh based Self Expressionist
combine their ten-year conversation into a gob smacked smear of color and carne.
Entirely set in Quito, Ecuador, the pair creates photographs that unleash their identities.
Interpersonal and trans-spatial, Trans-meat explores living cultural movement,
tapping into feminine archetypes. Urban sensibilities and Latin baroque trill vibrantly.
Trans-meat is a pre-verbal confrontation with our gut.
It subverts patriarchal roles, permeates boundaries and ignores defense mechanisms.
Trans-meat sticks as a full body reaction.
